How does liquid helium manage to remain liquid at zero temperature?

Liquid means chaos. Crystal means order. Zero entropy means complete and total order. Zero temperature means zero entropy.

How?

Zero temperature does not mean zero entropy.

Zero temperature means that you can add entropy to a system without adding energy. The S vs E graph is vertical.

So you could have some inherent disorder at zero temp if there is no more ordered state accessible to the system.

Funny--I'd expect the vodka to make them friendlier.

To add to M. Bekki's answer.

Those He atoms are drunk on Smirnoff. As we all know, this acts as an anti-freeze. But in this case, the He atoms simply don't like each other and the Smirnoff makes it more so. They have limited attraction for each other in the first place -- being noble gas and all, and as they cool, the mild repulsion caused by quantum effects is stronger than the forces which would cause them to solidify (probably in some sort of hexagonal close packing). This means their zero point energy goes down as their inter-atomic distances increase.

Take away their vodka and the He atoms might be able to solidify into something, but until then, they will happily keep their distance from each other forming a liquid instead of a solid.

I dropped liquid vitamins on my carpet. Does anyone know how to remove the spot/smell?

While giving my son a dose of liquid infant vitamins I dropped the bottle on the floor. If you have never used this type of supplement, let me tell you...They have a hue similar to iodine and smell very strongly of iron (also an igredient). I have been able to get the majority of the stain out of our rose colored carpet, but, my son's room smells very bad now. The entire room is permeated with the smell of iron. I don't know how to remove the smell. The vitamins are regular over the counter enfamil liquid vitamins with iron.

Blot with Alcohol until totally removed. Blot with a solution of 1/4 of a cup of liquid HAND dish washing detergent per cup of lukewarm water. Blot with lukewarm water with a white towel. Blot dry with a dry WHITE absorbent towel. Apply a one-half inch layer of WHITE (no printing) paper towels to the affected area and weight down with a flat heavy object and remove the next day.

After you remove the stain, the smell should start to go away also. Keep the room well ventilated, and use baking soda on the area to absorb any left over residue from the vitamins. I used to use this with my son, so I know exactly what you mean!

If this doesn't work, you may have to call in a professional. Good luck!

try this

make a paste with baking soda, put it directly on the stain, drip vinegar on the soda and let it bubble. use a extractor, lil green machine works good, and repeat the process until the stain is gone.

the vinegar stinks but does neutralize the smell.

the vinegar soda mixture will pull the stain to the surface so you can clean it.

Rx for Juice Juice & Dye Stain Remover are quite often very successful in removing dyed medications.

If unsuccessful, Call the Bane-Clene locator service at 1-800-428-9512 (U.S. ONLY!) for a professional in your zip code area.

How much liquid should be in the crock pot with the veggies and meat?

Should all of that stuff be COMPLETELY emersed in liquid, like soup? Or is it ok that it just covers either just the meat or the meat and most of the veggies? I know the meat generates it own liquid too...

A general rule of thumb (depending on what you are making) is to cover the meat about 3/4 with liquid. This is also true for Dutch ovens and braising pans.

I sometimes do things with NO additional liquid. I think that's okay, too, though it may stick a little.

What liquid form of weed killer / herbicide and feed can i use on my lawn?

At the moment i use Evergreen Complete to feed the lawn and kill the weeds. This comes in granular form which has to be then washed in after a few days. Is there a combined feed and weed that comes in liquid form which i can put in a backpack and spray? Or if it's better, is there seperate products i can use to kill the weeds then feed the lawn. My lawn is 350m2 so preferably the liquid has to come in large containers. UK products only please.

Evergreen also make a Liquid feed and weed!

The same Company also produce Verdone wich is probably the best lawn weedkiller that you can buy.

Heres a link to their web-site which also has a stockist search!

www.lovethegarden.com

Yeah evergreen do a liquid version, you can buy it homebase

The answers will work "above" but take a tip from a large bowling green caretaker "Verdone" has a nasty acrid stink ,

Liquid will work better. If you want the liquid to last longer buy the concentrate form and then mix it yourself.

What is the only liquid without a water base?

Most liquids have a water base, but there is one liquid that doesn't have a water base (liquids that are diluted with water do not count). This liquid has a high density.

Mercury!

There are many such liquids besides mercury. Carbon tetrachloride, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, benzene, liquid oxygen, liquid carbon dioxide, and all elements and most compounds in their liquid state. All liquids have a higher density than any gas. Your premise is incorrect.

Any oil is not water based

otherwise known as mercury

How a liquid coolant can be aged or deteriorate them? What happen to the liquid coolant?

Normally the liquid coolant perform well initially but after a period of time (coolant for CPU ~3months) the performance decrease. I would like to make them defect in a week. Can this possible? Under temperature and pressure or shaking them? How the changes inside the chemical of the liquid coolant?
